Richard S. Lantz, Sr. 77 of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at WVU/Wheeling Hospital surrounded by his children. He was born on August 7, 1948, in Bellaire, OH, the son of the late Charles V. and Josephine T. (Jurco) Lantz.
Richard was a Catholic and retired from the United Mine Workers. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and The Ohio State Buckeye’s. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will sadly be missed by all who knew him. He is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, and we know that we will see him again one day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Michael, Charles V., and David Lantz.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Christina (Glenn) Wheeler, Richard S. Lantz, Jr., Scot Lantz, and Tina Lantz, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren (who fondly referred to him as Pap-paws), 2 brothers, Robert Lantz, and Edward Lantz, and his first-wife, Debrorah A. Saffell, along with many nieces, nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 11 till time of Funeral Service at 1pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, OH 43912. Fr. John Mucha will be officiating the service.
